Lymph nodes can provide a suitable home for a variety of cells and tissues from other organs, suggesting that a cell-based alternative to whole organ transplantation might one day be feasible, according to researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and its McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine. In a report recently published online in Nature Biotechnology, the research team showed for the first time that liver cells, thymus tissue and insulin-producing pancreatic islet cells, in an animal model, can thrive in lymph nodes despite being displaced from their natural sites.
Hepatitis virus infection, alcoholic cirrhosis and other diseases can cause so much damage that liver transplantation is the only way to save the patient, noted senior investigator Eric Lagasse, Pharm. D., Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Pathology, Pitt School of Medicine. Children with DiGeorge syndrome lack functional thymus glands to produce essential immune cells, and diabetes can be cured with a pancreas transplant.
"However, the scarcity of donor organs means many people will not survive the wait for transplantation," said Dr. Lagasse, whose lab is at the McGowan Institute. "Cell therapies are being explored, but introducing cells into tissue already ravaged by disease decreases the likelihood of successful engraftment and restoration of function."
In the study, his team tested the possibility of using lymph nodes, which are abundant throughout the body and have a rich blood supply, as a new home for cells from other organs in what is called an "ectopic" transplant.
They injected healthy liver cells from a genetically-identical donor animal into lymph nodes of mice at various locations. The result was an enlarged, liver-like node that functioned akin to the liver; in fact, a single hepatized lymph node rescued mice that were in danger of dying from a lethal metabolic liver disease. Likewise, thymus tissue transplanted into the lymph node of mice that lacked the organ generated functional immune systems, and pancreatic islet cell transplants restored normal blood sugar control in diabetic animals.
"Our goal is not necessarily to replace the entire liver, for example, but to provide sufficient cell mass to stabilize liver function and sustain the patient's life," Dr. Lagasse said. "That could buy time until a donor organ can be transplanted. Perhaps, in some cases, ectopic cell transplantation in the lymph node might allow the diseased organ to recover."

A credit card is nice to have in an emergency, when making reservations and while on vacation. Do you need to make an emergency purchase but have no cash right at hand? That is not a problem. Just use a credit card and you?ll be fine. Are you trying to establish a better credit score? Having a credit card helps with that! Read on to find tips and information for using credit cards to improve your financial situation.
TIP! If you only pay the minimum amount each month on your credit card, only the credit card company benefits. The monthly minimums are deliberately designed to be so low that you will be paying for years in in order to pay off your balance.
Know what interest rate your card has. Before signing up for any card, knowing the interest rate is crucial. If you do not know, you could end up paying much more than the original price. If you end up paying more, it is possible that you will be unable to repay the balance every month.
Be sure that you?re making your payments each month on time. Most companies charge fees for being late. This fee may be along the lines of $25 just for one missed day on your payment. If you pay many late payments, your fee can grow larger and larger.
When considering a secured credit card, always read the agreement carefully. If you are instructed to apply a small deposit to the card, ensure that the company is not planning to use it to cover a tonne of hidden fees.
A great way to solve your credit card payments is to actually pay it down with an additional credit card. Just make sure that the other card has better rates. Even if the interest rates are comparable, other cards might offer perks and points you can use towards rewards like airline tickets. It is important however, that you do the appropriate accounting first.
Only apply for one or two bank cards. Every time you fill out an application for a credit card it has a negative impact on your credit score. Don?t jump on offers that are in the mail or an email that guarantee approval because they generally have very high interest rates.
TIP! All of us have been there. Another credit card promotional letter arrives in your mail telling you that you need to apply for a new credit card.
Learn how to responsibly handle your credit card accounts. While it?s understandable that some people get into debt from a credit card, some people do so because they?ve abused the privilege that a credit card provides. It is always best to keep your full balance paid completely off every month. This will allow you to use your charge cards while maintaining a low balance and raising your credit score.
Keep a close watch on your credit rating. Having a credit score that?s about 700 is what a lot of companies consider the limit for good credit. Be wise with your credit to maintain that score or to attain it, if your score is lower. With a credit score of at least 700, you will receive the lowest interest rates and best credit offers.
TIP! If you are not older than 18, you may not be able to get your own credit card. You could get one through an adult by being a joint user.
If you want a great credit card, be wary of your credit score. Your credit score is directly proportional to the level of credit you will be offered by card companies. The ones that have the lowest rates, best incentives and the highest points are only given to people with excellent credit.
Credit is used for a variety of things. They run the gamut from paying at a store to increasing a person?s overall credit score. Use this information to make wise credit card decisions

AUVERS-SUR-OISE, France (AP) ? The leader of an Iranian militant group that was taken off the U.S. terror list on Friday says the move will change her group's "balance of power" with the world ? predicting a higher profile in politics, fundraising and diplomacy as well as increased anti-regime activity in Iran.
The U.S. State Department said the People's Mujahedeen of Iran (MEK) hasn't committed terror for more than a decade. The decision means that effective immediately, any assets the group has in the United States are unblocked and Americans are permitted to do business with the organization.
Maryam Rajavi, the Paris-based head of the exiled opposition group, said in a rare interview that she hopes the organization can now have the ear of the world's diplomats to help bolster its bid to overthrow Iran's clerical regime. She stressed that its goal was to replace the Islamic Republic with a democratic government.
Rajavi praised the "courage" of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for what MEK believes was a long overdue decision. A court order had given Clinton until Oct. 1 to act. The group was removed from the European Union's terrorist list in 2009.
"It now has become evident for everyone that these (terror) allegations were untrue," she said. "This is a movement for freedom and democracy in Iran."
The Iranian regime is likely to be furious at the U.S. decision to delist MEK ? for years the only armed exile opposition group. The group, which began as a guerrilla movement fighting Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, helped overthrow the monarch in 1979 then quickly fell out with the Islamic Republic's first leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
MEK later teamed up with Iraq to battle Iran in an eight-year war in the 1980s, then from its Iraqi base continued military action against neighboring Iran.
A senior State Department official said Washington does not view the group as an opposition movement that can promote democratic values in Iran. The official briefed reporters on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
"They are not part of our picture in terms of the future of Iran," the official said.
Still, the U.S. credited the group's 3,000-plus members at a paramilitary base near Iraq's border with Iran with a peaceful departure to another camp, a major step in their eventual departure from Iraq.
The United States contends the group was responsible for the killing of several American military officials and defense contractors in the 1970s, carrying out attacks on Iran from its base in Iraq.
Rajavi, 58, wore what has become a trademark headscarf among MEK women during the interview Friday at MEK's headquarters in the leafy town of Auvers-Sur-Oise north of Paris. She denied claims by critics that MEK has all the earmarks of a cult, blaming Iran for such allegations.
"All the energy and potential of our movement were chained" during the 15 years that MEK was listed by the United States as a terrorist organization, she said, speaking in French as well as the Iranian language of Farsi through a translator.
At its headquarters, the group was preparing for a jubilant fete on Saturday, plastering walls on the street with red drapes and photographs of "martyrs," as it refers to members who have been killed.
"The diplomatic scene will be completely different" because the group's status as a pariah will evaporate, Rajavi said, reiterating MEK's long-standing denial of terrorism.
But, she said, "the most important impact ... will be seen inside Iran."
"The balance of power, the balance of power is going to change. For example, the first message for the Iranian people will be they won't fear increasing their activity and increasing their demonstrations," she said. The fear "will evaporate ... and that will lead to the expansion of anti-regime activities within Iran."
With a clean bill of health in the West, the Iranian regime "will no longer have the excuse" of acting against an organization deemed terrorist by the United States.
Mujahedeen, protected in Iraq under dictator Saddam Hussein, were disarmed after the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq and are disliked by the new Iraqi government, dominated by Shiite Muslims like those in Iran.
The United States had insisted the MEK's members leave Camp Ashraf, their home in Iraq, as a condition for removal from the terrorist list. All but several hundred militants are now located in Camp Liberty, a former U.S. base outside Baghdad, looking for placement in third countries.
Among those transferred to Camp Liberty were Rajavi's 30-year-old daughter and her 32-year-old son, she said.
A veil of mystery has long surrounded the group, not the least over the whereabouts of its main founder, Massoud Rajavi, who married Maryam and, though not seen since at least 2003, continues as its co-leader.
There has been speculation that he is dead. Rajavi said Friday he is alive but would not say where he is living.

As you know I've been following the Noah Properties construction boom in my new East Village neighborhood. These guys have it down to a science, having quickly built 3 homes almost next to each other in the 1800 block of West Erie. They recently completed and sold a 4th one just a couple of doors down from the other 3 after about 3 months of construction. Noah Properties bought a teardown for just $190,000 in March and ended up selling the finished home for $878,500 in only 45 days - the most expensive yet in this mini-development. All of Noah Properties' homes sell this fast - at least in East Village - and they sell before they are finished so their cash is not tied up very long.
This 5 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home at 1854 W Erie has similar high end, ultra-modern finishes to the other 3 homes on the block and was listed for $899,900. No square footage was provided. Of all the homes on the block I like the exterior of this one the best. The others took various design chances that didn't quite appeal to me.

As we noted on several occasions in the past ten days, as a result of QE3 and its imminent transformation to QE4, which will merely be the current monetization configuration but without the sterilization of new long-term bond purchases, the Fed's balance sheet is expected to grow by over $2 trillion in the next two years. This also means that the matched liability on the Fed's balance sheet, reserves and deposits, will grow by a like amount. So far so good. However, as Bank of America points out today, there may be a small glitch: as a reminder on December 31, 2012 expires the FDIC's unlimited insurance on noninterest-bearing transaction accounts at which point it will revert back to $250,000. Currently there is about $1.6 trillion in deposits that fall under this umbrella, or essentially the entire amount in new deposit liabilities that will have to be created as a result of QEternity. The question is what those account holders will do, and how will the exit of deposits, once those holding them realize they no longer are government credit risk and instead are unsecured bank credit risk, impact the need to ramp up deposit building. One very possible consequence: negative bill rates as far as the eye can see.
The chart below shows that notional of deposits backed by FDIC unlimited insurance:
Bank of America opines below, by first presenting the balance sheet dynamics of QE, which by now should be familiar to everyone:
QE leads to growth in bank deposits?
?
The expansion of the Fed?s balance sheet has important knock-on effects on the size and composition of private balance sheets. When the Fed buys securities, it credits the account of the clearing bank used by the primary dealer from whom the security is purchased with newly minted electronic money (reserves). The dealer?s balance sheet thus sees a decrease in securities holdings and an increase in deposits at its clearing bank; the clearing bank sees an increase in deposit liabilities and an increase in reserves held at the Fed; and the Fed sees an increase in reserve liabilities and an increase in securities holdings.
?
Who ultimately holds these bank deposits ? and which banks hold the excess reserves ? is determined by many subsequent transactions. But for the banking system as a whole, the Fed?s purchases force an increase in deposit liabilities (or in some cases liabilities such as repo, fed funds, CDs, etc) as well as holdings of excess reserves, all else being equal. This pattern holds true as long as the seller of securities is not a bank, in which case the bank simply swaps securities holdings for reserves without any effect on its deposit liabilities. Excess reserves stand at roughly US$1.5tn as a result of the Fed?s prior asset purchases, while banking system deposits have increased by an even larger amount since late 2008.
However, the natural growth of deposits may be impacted due to the FDIC cliff at the end of the year:
Depositors whose balances have grown as a result of QE1 and QE2 have had access to noninterest-bearing accounts with unlimited FDIC insurance, which was introduced in October 2008 to improve the funding position of FDIC insured banks (for details see US Rates Viewpoint: Beware the $1.6tn deposit insurance cliff). The availability of unlimited FDIC insurance coverage of noninterest-bearing transaction accounts has represented an elastic supply of risk-free assets that have grown to US$1.6tn over the past four years. The Dodd-Frank Act extended this coverage through end-2012.
?
However, December 31, 2012 will see the expiration of unlimited FDIC insurance on noninterest-bearing transaction accounts unless Congress takes action to extend it, which appears unlikely. If the provision expires as scheduled, the FDIC coverage for these deposits will revert to the standard US$250,000 limit. Upon expiration, depositors will be forced to choose between moving their cash elsewhere and accepting that their deposits will be converted from government credit risk to unsecured bank credit risk.
And since when it comes to the decision of counterparty risk and cash holdings, nobody will pick a bank, which may or may not be insolvent, book value metrics aside, over Uncle Sam, it is quite likely that most will opt for short-term bonds which are rolled month after month even though they collect no interest. This means a substantial reduction in the outstandinf total deposit base of nearly $9 trillion.
Putting it all together:
QE3 and the deposit insurance cliff
?
Because many depositors are highly risk averse, we expect that a portion of the US$1.6tn in fully insured deposits in accounts with more than US$250,000 in balances will leave banks for the relative safety of money market funds and direct holdings of Treasury and agency securities. This could result in negative bill yields and wider 2y swap spreads, in our view. However, deposits of the banking system as a whole will likely not decline when this provision expires, though there may be dislocations for individual banks.
?
Instead, the US$2tn in Fed QE purchases that we expect over the next two years will increase the overall supply of bank deposit liabilities over time. But, unlike QE1 and QE2, the deposits created by QE3 will only be FDIC insured up to US$250,000 per account. As a result, risk-averse investors will likely bid up the price of short-dated Treasuries until the market is indifferent between holding uninsured deposits and holding Treasury bills at much lower yields. This effect will likely become more pronounced as excess liquidity in the system increases, as well as during episodes of risk aversion, when bank CDS spreads tend to widen.
In other words, prepare for negative bill yields coming soon to an indefinite future near you as unintended consequence #1293834.5 of the Fed's takeover of every market slowly materializes. At least the Treasury will soon be able to issue bonds at negative yields in the primary market as had been discussed previously. Indeed, that TBAC committee led by the new head of JPM's CIO Matt Zames, truly knows what is going on months ahead of the market (recall "Supercommittee That Runs America" Urges End To The "Zero Bound", Demands Issuance Of Negative Yield Bonds") . As to what other unexpected consequences materialize once $1.6 trillion in cash moves from point A to point X, we will all just have to wait and see.

To a beginner, internet marketing may appear to be a dumbfounding world of confusion. The truth of it is there are a growing number of internet marketing plans that are mostly hyped up smoke and mirrors. This usually leaves the buyer wondering if the only way to make money online is to sell the useless product you just bought to some other poor, unsuspecting person. Unethical marketers aside, it really is possible to make a full time income from internet marketing. The only real secret is to select a workable internet marketing plan and stick to it.
The first objective is to find a workable guide. There are many workable internet marketing plans out there to choose from that actually do what they say. There are good, honest folks who have learned how to make a substantial living online and are willing to allow you to follow in their footsteps. Some will even take you by the hand an be your mentor. They all have merits of their own and a unique twist to the process. You must choose an internet marketing guide that meets two important criteria.
A workable internet marketing plan must be agreeable to your style of working. That is, it must be set up in such a way that you will enjoy doing it and not see it as a terrible chore to take care of each day. If your internet marketing plan is so complex or so boring that you absolutely dread sitting down to it every day, how much work would you actually do? You?ll be neither productive nor profitable and will have wasted your money regardless of the guide you choose.
The other criteria of a workable internet marketing plan is that is must be executable within your budget. There are some internet marketing plans that promise success, but after purchasing the guide you find out that the software requirements to actually carry out the plan appropriately are way beyond what you have to spend. You should never go beyond your means with internet marketing because it really is not necessary. There are many techniques you can learn and use for little or no money.
After finding an internet marketing plan that meets both criteria, the only thing left in the success equation is you. Determination and persistence are the other two deciding factors in building a successful online business. The best tools in the world are absolutely useless if they are left to collect dust in a corner. Will you get rich overnight? The answer is no. Can you make a good living with a workable internet marketing plan? If you?re willing to actually ?work?, the rewards can be unlimited.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) ? President Barack Obama is seeking to turn the tables on Mitt Romney by dismissing his presidential rival's claim that he can change Washington from the inside. Obama asked: "What kind of an inside job is he talking about?"
Obama told supporters at a rally in Woodbridge, Va., that Romney would rely on lobbyists and politicians to outsource jobs, curtail gay marriage and limit women's health care.
Romney on Thursday criticized Obama for declaring, after running as a candidate of change, that he couldn't change Washington from the inside. Romney said he would change Washington, adding, "We'll get the job done from the inside."
Obama said he will rely on the public to create change from the outside by pressuring Congress.
Said Obama: "We don't want an inside job in Washington."

ATLANTA (AP) ? Chick-fil-A is once again in the public relations fryer.
The controversy flared up this week when a Chicago politician said the company was no longer giving to groups that oppose same-sex marriage, angering Christian conservatives who supported Chick-fil-A this summer when its president reaffirmed his opposition to gay marriage. Civil rights groups hailed the turnabout, yet the company never confirmed it and instead released two public statements, neither of which made Chick-fil-A's position any clearer.
The events suggest the Southern franchise may be trying to steer clear of hot-button social issues while it expands in other, less conservative regions of the country. In its statement Thursday, the Georgia-based company said its corporate giving had for many months been mischaracterized.
"Part of our corporate commitment is to be responsible stewards of all that God has entrusted to us," the statement said. "Chick-fil-A's giving heritage is focused on programs that educate youth, strengthen families and enrich marriages, and support communities. We will continue to focus our giving in those areas. Our intent is not to support political or social agendas."
The three-page statement did not say whether that included gay marriages.
The company's response, its second in as many days, was posted on its website after Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno announced the alleged policy change. Moreno said the change followed extended negotiations, and as a result, he would no longer try to block a Chick-fil-A restaurant from opening in his district.
Social networking sites lit up following Moreno's remarks, with many people saying Chick-fil-A had caved to pressure from gay rights organizations.
The Cathy family has always been public about its faith. Since Dan Cathy's father, Truett, opened the first Chick-fil-A in 1967, the restaurants have been closed on Sundays. The company refused to reconsider the policy during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, sacrificing even more profit.
University of Georgia marketing professor Sundar Bharadwaj said the company is risking alienating its customers.
"You can change your position, but you have to have a rational reason for the change and be consistent and communicate that to your customers," he said. "Two different brands cannot be visible to the customer. Your authenticity is questioned after that, and your brand loses equity."
The company has declined to take any questions from the media.
Earlier this week, before the statements, Dan Cathy tweeted to celebrate a fundraiser by Chick-fil-A's primary charitable arm, the WinShape Foundation. The beneficiary? The Marriage and Family Foundation, which was among organizations cited by gay rights groups as opposing same-sex marriage.
When The Advocate, a leading gay rights publication, called attention to Cathy's tweet, some civil rights groups quickly reassumed the critical posture they had abandoned only a day earlier.
"Chick-fil-A can't claim to be turning over a new leaf while simultaneously funneling thousands of dollars towards a group that does not acknowledge the dignity and respect of LGBT people," said Fred Sainz, a spokesman for The Human Rights Campaign.
In recent years, civil rights advocates have also publicized at least $3 million in contributions the WinShape Foundation has made to conservative organizations such as the Family Research Council. The group's headquarters was the site of a shooting last month when authorities said a gunman and gay rights supporter, carrying a backpack full of Chick-fil-A sandwiches, opened fired on a security guard.
The younger Cathy became a flashpoint this summer when he told the Baptist Press that the company was "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family." In a later radio interview, he ratcheted up the rhetoric: "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.'"
When gay rights groups protested, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee started a social media campaign for "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." It drew hundreds of thousands of supporters and the company later announced that the occasion set a single-day sales record.
Chick-fil-A posted more than $4.1 billion in sales last year, most of it below the Mason-Dixon Line. Just 14 of its restaurants are in the six states and the District of Columbia where gay marriage is legal. Massachusetts has just two locations, both more than 10 miles from Boston.
The company reports that its sales figures have increased annually each year of operation.

Eagles?Mychal Kendricks has been part of a unit that's created turnovers that have helped Philly start 2-0.
ANALYSIS

For the first time since 1997, just six NFL teams have started 2-0: Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers, and San Francisco 49ers.
With this group, it is unlikely we will be watching any ?Path to Perfection? run late into the season, which has been very competitive thus far with a record 20 teams at 1-1.
You can split the six 2-0 teams into three categories:
So. Philadelphia at Arizona. Worst 2-0 matchup ever?
Dating back to last season, Arizona is tied for the league's best record in its last 11 games (9-2). If that?s not enough, guess which team has the longest active winning streak? Yep. Philadelphia has won their last six games.
So why does this matchup have such a foul smell to it? Let?s review how they reached this point.
Philadelphia leads the league in offensive yards (942), first downs (51) and has the best defensive passer rating (35.1). That is a potent combo, and yet it just became the first team in NFL history to open the season with consecutive one-point victories.
Why have the Eagles cut it so close? They lead the league in giveaways with nine. That?s five in Cleveland and four more last week in the 24-23 win over Baltimore. It is no fluke either. The Eagles had 38 turnovers last season, which were the second most in the league. Their style of offense is high-risk, high-reward.
The fact that they are 2-0 is astounding when given the facts.
How have the Eagles actually won? Vick has led late game-winning touchdown drives of 91 yards at Cleveland and 80 yards against Baltimore. Vick is the 14th quarterback since 1960 to lead a fourth quarter comeback and game-winning drive in each of his team?s first two games.
It is good to see the Eagles finish these drives after losing their last eight comeback opportunities dating back to Week 17 of the 2010 season. But to say they have been fortunate is an understatement.Cleveland?s rookie linebacker L.J. Fort dropped a game-ending interception by Vick right before the touchdown, and the Ravens were hosed on a bad offensive pass interference penalty that would have given them a 27-17 lead with 5:29 left. Instead the Eagles come out on top with one-point victories.
The Cardinals know all about fortunate wins. They tied the NFL record with four overtime wins in 2011. They also tied the NFL record with eight wins in a season resulting from a game-winning score in the fourth quarter or overtime. Their last eight games have been decided by no more than seven points.
On Sunday, they picked up a signature win in New England. After looking like they would fall victim to another Tom Brady comeback, the defense held, preventing the Patriots from tying the game late on a two-point conversion.
What followed was a series of errors from both teams, with incredible momentum swings that made you think one team was going to win the game, only for something catastrophic to happen. After Ryan Williams fumbled the ball on a 3rd-and-13 run, the Patriots were in great position.
Having their touchdown wiped away by a Rob Gronkowski holding penalty, the Patriots relied on accurate kicker Stephen Gostkowski to win the game with a 42-yard field goal. He was wide left, and Arizona was 2-0.
How fortunate was the miss? The Patriots have been the gold standard in clutch kicking, starting with Adam Vinatieri?s run. From 2000 to 2011, the Patriots were 29 of 31 (93.5 percent) on clutch field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime. They have not had to stew over a loss because of a missed field goal since December 26, 1999 versus Buffalo. In Week 1, the Cardinals had to come back in the fourth quarter to beat Seattle, and did so with Kevin Kolb coming off the bench to engineer the game-winning drive. With rookie Russell Wilson having an opportunity to be the hero, his fourth-down pass went through Braylon Edwards? hands with 0:18 left. Arizona won 20-16.
Hard to believe based on preseason expectation and regular season performance, but either the Cardinals or Eagles will be 3-0 after Sunday?s game. Well, that is barring a tie, in which the last two NFL ties have involved Andy Reid (2008 Eagles at Bengals) and Michael Vick (2002 Falcons at Steelers).

Last week, I got the chance to head down to the new Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf location in Huntington Beach, Calif. to try their fall drink offerings?available through November?and while there wasn?t anything particularly ?buzz-worthy? anywhere in the line, CB&TL definitely knows what it?s doing, and knows how to do it well.
Take a gander:
Chocolate and Amaretto Espresso Con Pannas:?two shots of espresso and a thick layer of chocolate or amaretto sauce topped with whipped cream,?available either to-go (not as pretty) or drink-in (just the right amount of pretty?pictured) for $3.15.
Pumpkin and Amaretto Lattes and Ice Blendeds: one familiar and one not-so familiar fall flavor, but each completely worth every single creamy calorie; available from 12 through 32 ounces (for the Ice Blendeds), $3.75 to $6.35.
(Not pictured: Amaretto Latte)
Black Currant Jasmine Tea: an acceptable autumnal tribute for the (seasonally neglected) tea drinker in your life, featuring Pouchong Oolong blended with jasmine flowers and other all natural flavors; each sale of the ~$10 retail tin also sends $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Get Giving.
And finally, the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake: baked fresh every morning and delivered to each location, this yellow cupcake topped with peanut butter icing and raspberry jam was surprisingly mild and a solid dessert to round a hard morning of driving and tasting and stuff.
?
While visiting, I also caught wind of a new, ?never before done? drink flavor in the works in commemoration of CB&TL?s?50th anniversary next year, but, as is the way, that spark was quickly killed by the food media embargo gods.
In the meantime, I can say at least that the new fall drinks and goods (as well as the new-ish, surf-inspired HB location) are definitely worth popping in for. Let the holiday season binging commence.
